Write an article

The Project:

Young people wonder about what the work place will be like and what opportunities there are for them after they finish their education. Write an article which vividly brings alive the job of a young person at the start of a STEM based career. You can decide on what kind of article it should be, for example:

A local newspaper     The college magazine     A blog

Read at least one of the Interviews in depth and write an article based on the content. There are three different article templates for you to choose from. For each template, you’ll be asked to include the following:

A Headline: What’s the key message you want your readers to understand about STEM careers? Turn this into a short headline that you think will make people want to read your article.

Sub-heading: You can use the sub-head to build on your headline and introduce your article.

Copy: Think about what most interested or surprised you in the Interviews. What have you learnt that you think would be helpful and interesting to young people wondering what a STEM career is like?

Key Fact: Select a key fact from the drop-down list provided that you think supports your article.

Image: You can choose imagery from the library provided to enhance your article.

Remember that drawing from the other resources on the website will enrich your final project.

Once you’ve begun filling in the template, you’ll need to complete the project in one go – and can then save it to your desktop.

Tip: You may want to print a copy of this page so you can refer to the instructions.
